When I heard that Stephen Sommers (The Mummy and The Mummy Returns) was the writer and director of this film I became very wary. I enjoyed The Mummy. It was a great blend of horror, adventure and special effects, and based on its success many other people seemed to enjoy it too. Naturally, a sequel was planned and a couple of years later we were given The Mummy Returns. This movie was behind my feeling of dread when it came to Van Helsing.
